Kagyu Sukha Chöling purchased the land for the new building in 2005, and opened the doors almost six years later, at a total cost of $1.7 million – an unimaginable fundraising accomplishment for our community. In June, 2010, KSC moved into this outstanding building, designed to be as sustainable as possible. To reach such an accomplishment required the help of almost 800 individuals, families and businesses along the way. In November, 2014, we fully repaid our generous lenders and accomplished this great goal to “Burn the Mortgage”. On November 22, 2014, KSC held a Fire Puja (ceremony) where the “mortgage” was symbolically burned and all debts were released.
We celebrate this grand accomplishment. Our lamas feel that our financially secure Dharma Home is a legacy that each and every one of us can now provide to the future. Our longtime vision of the center as a vibrant wellspring of the dharma for our community, for generations to come, has been realized.
We are so fortunate to be able to practice here, with our two accomplished Lamas. Because of all of you, Kagyu Sukha Chöling is a thriving, vibrant and harmonious Buddhist community in the heart of Ashland.
Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to support KSC. What a fortunate life we share.
