Lama Sarah Harding. . . is
a lama in the Shangpa Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. A student
of the late master Kalu Rinpoche, she completed the first traditional
three-year retreat for westerners under his guidance in 1980. A faculty
member at Naropa University, she has published five books, with one
forthcoming. Lama Sarah's presentation of Buddhist teachings is lively
and engaging. All are welcome.
"UNBIASED
LINEAGE"
Esoteric Instruction for Buddhist Spiritual Practice
Essential Buddhist practices passed from India into Tibet via distinct
lineages of masters, later known as the Eight Great Chariots of the
Practice Lineages. The collection and preservation of these vast and
profound teachings in the 19th century by Jamgon Kongtrul and others,
founded the unbiased [Tibetan: ree-may] tradition.
Monday night, Lama Sarah will discuss these transmissions, the importance
of lineage, and what it means to be a ree-may practitioner. Tuesday,
she will explore a sampling of these instructions, taken from Kongtrul's
Treasury of Knowledge: Esoteric Instructions (translated by Lama Sarah,
and due out in March). The Kadampa Stages of the Path, the Shangpa Three
Integrations on the Path, and the sublime Mahamudra of the Karma Kagyu
will be explored, and others by popular demand!
