Calm Abiding Sunday with Lama Yeshe

  • Kagyu Sukha Chöling 109 Clear Creek Drive Ashland, OR, 97520 United States (map)

ONE SUNDAY EVERY MONTH FROM 9:00-11:30 AM

This month’s topic…

In November and December, the teachings on Calm Abiding Sundays examined the relationship between student and teacher.

We examined the role of the teacher in Buddhism, as well as how to recognize a qualified and suitable teacher. We considered the benefits of such a relationship. We also acknowledged the challenges that may arise, and what we as individuals can do about them.

This Sunday, we will look at what a good teacher can provide. What is the potential of a relationship with a knowledgeable and practiced teacher? How might our study and practice benefit? What moments of insight might we experience? How might those moments affect our lives?

Finally, we will consider how the experience of being alive – with an accurate view of reality – can be a moment-by-moment teacher….

Please join Lama Yeshe in exploring your community at KSC.  All are welcome.  Join us in person or via Zoom.

Calm Abiding Meditation

This meditation is common to many traditions of Buddhism. In this practice, we rest our attention on a simple meditative support, such as the breath. Instead of following thoughts and emotions as we usually do, we release them and maintain our connection to the support.

“From this practice, we can experience a stable and calm mind. We learn to maintain and return to a sense of stillness, no matter what our outer circumstances. The mind is relaxed, alert and aware. The results of this practice are serenity, freedom in the face of circumstances, and ultimately Buddhahood.”  From Meditation for Beginners, by Bokar Rinpoche

Please see our calendar for upcoming dates.
