KSC Volunteer Teams and Leaders

Board of Directors, Co-Presidents: Kristienne McFarland, Martha Wilhelm

The Board of Directors implement KSC’s programs and projects, oversee center operations, fiscal stewardship, as well as lama and sangha care. They meet quarterly.

Bookstore, Team Leader: Beth Falkenstein

The Bookstore Team orders and maintains inventory and helps out in the bookstore as needed during special events and after Sunday meditation practices.

Building Maintenance, Team Leaders: Janet Rantz and Tony Kerwin

The Building Maintenance Team assists the team leaders with the upkeep and repair of the KSC Building to keep it safe, beautiful and functional for both the near and long-term future.

Ceremonial Arts, Team Leaders: Willow Denker, Leandra Swent

This group receives special training in Ceremonial Arts and supports larger events and lama Sundays.

Cleaning Team, Team Leader: Denise Ewing

The Cleaning Team meets monthly to clean the shrine room, kitchen, offices, bathrooms, etc.

Dharma Kids, Leader: Ann Zimmerman

Dharma Kids’ volunteers assist the leaders in providing an enriching program for children during Calm Abiding and Tonglen Sundays.

Events Management, Team Leader: Martha Wilhelm

The Events Management team makes sure that events run smoothy and all are welcomed.

Fundraising, Marketing & Fundraising Manager: Sophia Blanton

Volunteers help to ensure that KSC can meet its operating budget goals for the year and continue to offer dharma teachings without obstacles.

Gardening and Landscaping, Team Leader: David Kennedy

The Gardening Team meets monthly to tend to the landscape grounds of the temple.

Lama Sundays Support, Team Leader: Barbara Mathieson

This team welcomes attendees to Lama Sundays and makes sure that everything runs smoothy so that the sangha can enjoy the teachings.

Library, Team Leader: Bette Semple

Library volunteers work to make the library welcoming and accessible, answering questions and recommending books.

Publicity, Postering Leader: To be filled

Volunteers assist with various duties, including posting event flyers in Ashland and neighboring communities.

Retreat, Team Leader: Nell LeFebvre

The Retreat teams helps sangha members to have a deep and rich experience when on retreat.

Security, Team Leaders: Kristienne McFarland, David Kennedy

The Security Leaders implement and manage the building security plan.

Sound and Tech, Team Leaders: Sue and Roland Kretschmann

This team makes sure the sound and tech is updated and functioning properly when there are events in the shrine room. Volunteers are trained and supported.

Sunday Meditation for Peace, Team Leader: Willow Denker

Thursday Calm Abiding, Team Leader: Alison Laughlin

This team welcomes attendees to Thursday evening Calm Abiding practice and makes sure that everything runs smoothy.

Volunteer Organizing, Team Leaders: Barbara Mathieson & current vacancy

This leader coordinates volunteers by checking online volunteer forms, matching them with appropriate teams, and keeping a database of volunteers.

Wednesday Sit, Team Leader: Abigail Van Alyn

Volunteers open the building and welcome visitors to the silent meditation on Wednesdays, noon - 1:00 pm.

Zoom, Leader: To be filled

The Zoom Team receives training to be Zoom Hosts for online teachings and events.

Auction, Leaders: Beth Falkenstein, Jhenna Lewis, Leandra Swendt

The auction team presents an annual online auction as a fundraiser for KSC.
